In addition to the routine role of the Quality & Patient Safety (QPS) Specialist, a Senior QPS Specialist works independently to provide subject expertise in Q&PS & oversee & support assigned sections of the hospital's Q&PS ProgramA Senior QPS Specialist supports the Quality Management System by meeting regulatory/accreditation requirements & best practices in QPS, leading or supporting teams & program initiatives including government and payor reporting, medical staff peer review and process improvementRequirements:
3-5 years' experience in a Medical Setting Bachelors' Degree in directly related field Masters' Degree in nursing Certification in Quality (CPHQ) and/or Patient Safety (CPPS) Strong analytical skills Strong communication skills Training/Certification in Lean/Process Improvement within 18 months of hireMajor
Responsibilities:
Performs the duties defined in the Job Profile for Quality/Patient Safety SpecialistOrients new department staff:
Oversees and completes the onboarding process /new orientee department checklists for new department staff and serves as an ongoing resource to ensure quality reporting requirements are met within critical timeframesResponsible for the oversight, completion, and submission of required studies to ensure that program or project goals are metProvides education and guidance to quality/safety staff on new measure reporting requirementsRemains knowledgeable of current technical specifications, program and regulatory requirements and reporting expectationsResponsible for the validation of new quality or program measures and communicates findings to appropriate staff/ impacted departmentsOversees and leads the activities, processes and outcomes of a work team including planning, team meetings, communication and work product deliveryServes as an active member on department and state meetings; serves as alternate to department leadership as neededMay manage the medical staff peer review process including orienting new physician leaders, ensuring they meet their assigned responsibilities, ensuring the Midas Quality module is complete and up to date and producing performance reports for OPPE or on demand as requested.
